In reality each show has an entirely different vibe, even if the general topic of each show can sometimes feel similar. We can make of that what we will but I would say, as opposed to copying one another, it's the nature of the setting that probably draws people to excessively compare the two. Ultimately - Wentworth is based on a show that originally aired from 1979 to 1986 and Orange Is The New Black is based on a book published in 2010. In terms of US specifics OITNB - I think - either came a little before Wentworth or more or less at the same time, but that doesn't reflect Australia, the UK etc where it was definitely Wentworth that came slightly first (Wentworth was quite highly anticipated in the UK due to the original Prisoner being rather popular for example). Wentworth was slightly earlier, although it is fair to say OITNB became known globally quicker, in part because it was the first to go to Netflix of the two despite being the slightly younger of the two and so it generated an international name, on the whole, quicker.
